It doesn't take one long to hear the experience shine through in Gene's music. So what does someone do in 35 years of making music? If you are like Gene, you cover everything from Mozart to Zappa. I honestly have to say, that out of all the musicians I have had the pleasure to Spotlight, Gene is by far one of the most talented, versatile artists I have ever heard. I was moved by the pure grace and delivery of his music.

You won't find head-banging, mosh'n tunes here, but you will find some amazing music that is sure to please your ears and maybe even leave wondering "why the hell am I so emotional". Blues baby...Blues!! Gene is an awesome guitarist. With music like this you can picture his performance in your mind (who needs video). It never ceases to amaze me, how one person can possess so much talent. If music don't move you, than you are only getting half of the ride. Strong, passionate, vibrant vocals, Gene will amaze you and leave you in awe. The Dark Horse, Gene's latest CD release, is self produced, engineered, written, arranged, and all instruments and vocals are performed entirely by Gene.

The Dark Horse - 12 tracks of great music.

1. Bisquits & Gravy: This song has some amazing guitar. The kind of song that pulls you in and keeps you there the whole time.

3. In The Dark: What else could you ask for? This song has it all...great vocals and lyrics,MUSIC. This song rocks!

4. 5th Chord: WOW! This is an awesome demonstration of great guitar. Clocking in at about 2:46, one of those songs you want to hear again and again. Not too many songs you want to last 10 or so minutes but I could have handled it with this one.

5. All I Can Do: An amazing mix of great vocals and music. Gene's experience and grace shines bright in this song.

7. Froggleggs: Sweet, sweet guitar! A great musical experience here. A musical journey(get your ticket).

12. As Memory: Beautiful! It just doesn't get any sweeter than this. This song is so damn moving it makes you want another full CD of Gene Hilbert and a box of tissues. This has to be one of the more beautiful pieces I have heard. Now you know what 35 years of experience and talent can do!
